Meadow Room (2-5Yrs)
In our Meadow rooms our activites are often initiated by the children and follow our children’s interests. However we also initiate structured play with adult-led activites for phonic and number work; we focus on early literacy and numeracy skills throughout sessions which are linked appropriately to the development stage of each child. Meadow room creates a place that encourages children to explore, question, investigate, create and communicate.
Our Meadow Room is split into Meadow 1 and Meadow 2.
Meadow 1 -Is our toddler room and provides a dedicated area for children aged 24 to 36 months. Our Sky babies beginning to transition into this room shortly before their second birthday and will do as many transitions as they need to get to know their new key workers and become comfortable and happy in their new room before they make their transition to that room.
Meadow 2– Is our preschool room and provides an area for children from 3 to 5 years. Meadow 1 and Meadow 2 children play and learn closely together, they share the messy room and have lunch, tea and sometimes snacks together. Meadow 2 is focused on learning through play and preparing children to be confident and happy little learners ready for their next steps.
All children in Meadow room also have access to;
Messy Room: All of our Meadow children love to use the messy room, it allows them to get their hands dirty with paint, glue and other exciting resources. The children love to be creative and this room allows them to experience different textures and medias allowing them to express themselves in new and exciting ways.
Sensory Room – Our toddlers love to use the sensory room which has mirrors, colour changing lights, a bubble tube and sensory toys. It provides the children with a cosy place to have morning circle time, an afternoon nap and a quick song and dance when they feel like it. This is a lovely space that can be used as a quiet retreat, but can equally be used as a disco dancing space. The children love this room.
Learning Den – The learning den gives our preschool children the opportunity to take part in smaller group activities. This allows them to work in a quieter environment and to be able to learn new things and practice what they have learnt. The room offers the chance to work with resources that have small parts which they children can’t use in the Meadow Room. They enjoy learning their numbers and some sounds in a fun play based way. The children love going down to the learning den and can’t wait until it is their turn.
